Questions To Ask Your Employment Recruiter

When you're getting ready for your first meeting with your employment recruiter, it's likely that you have questions. All too often, people forget the questions they have for an employment recruiter as soon as they sit down for the meeting. Be sure to ask your employment recruiter the following questions before the meeting ends to ensure that you're ready to move forward with the employment process.

How does contact work with the employment consultant? You'll want to know if you're expected to check in with them regularly about new jobs, or if they'll reach out to you when they have a position that they think would be a good fit.

How long does it usually take to find employment? While your employment consultant won't be able to give you an exact time frame that it will take for you to get a job, they should be able to give you a general figure of how long you can expect to wait before having some solid options available.

What is the reputation of the recruiter? Be sure to ask the recruiter or firm for referrals and confirmation of their legal status. For this question, you also want to spend some time researching on your own as not all recruiters will be honest. Look into the firm’s legal status, check that they are in good standing with their employees and with taxes and regulations.

Where do they hire from? Some employment consultants hire most of their jobs locally, or only from certain groups. Others, like us, hire largely from abroad, with only a few specific hires from the local population. Many companies have a mix. Before you get invested in a firm, make sure you know where they like to hire from for the jobs you’re interested in.
